IBC Children’s Conclave at the 4th Indian Biodiversity Congress : Date: 12th March 2017
4-ஆவது இந்திய பல்லுயிர் மாநாடு, புதுவை பல்கலை கழகத்தில் வரும் மார்ச் மாதம் 10-லிருந்து 12-வரை நடக்க உள்ளது. கேரளா மாநிலம் CISSA என்ற அமைப்பு, புதுவை பல்கலை கழகம், புதுவை அரசு, புதுவை அறிவியல், தொழில்நுட்பம மற்றும் சுற்று சூழல் துறை, புதுவை அறிவியல் இயக்கம் – இணைந்து நடத்தும் இம்மாநாட்டில் 1000-துக்கும் மேல் பிரதிநிதிகள் பங்கேற்க உள்ளது. இம்மாநாட்டில், மார்ச் 12-ஆம் தேதி அன்று, “குழந்தைகள் கூட்டம்” ஓரணு நடத்துவதற்கு புதுவை அறிவியல் இயக்கம் பொறுப்பேற்றுள்ளது.
The 4th Indian Biodiversity Congress will be held in Pondicherry University on 10th to 12th March 2017 in the Pondicherry University with Pondicherry Science Forum as one of the Organizers of the IBC 2017 in charge of conducting a Children’s Conclave which has been a regular feature of the IBC.
When this Biennial Congress is being held in Puducherry, which is also the largest Congress of this dimension, it is envisaged to take the message of conservation of Biodiversity to all the children, which are the future generation of our country. A series of competitions and interactive sessions are being planned as part of the Conclave.
Venue: Convention Hall, Pondicherry University, (Opposite to Pondicherry Engineering College, Kalapet).
The following programmes will be held in the Children’s Enclave for Children of 10-14 (Junior) and 14+ to 17 years (Senior) categories. Certificates will be provided to all the participants and prizes for the winners
1.”Exploring Biodiversity” or ” பல்லுயிர் பன்மை”
1. Presentations of the six national teams of National Children’s Science Congress 2016 : 5 Minutes each with posters displayed.
2. Presentation of the best Audio Visual Projects “Explore Your Neighborhood – Biodiversity”
which will try to capture the living forms, animals, birds, insects in various eco-systems around you using mobile cameras/Point and shoot/DSLR etc. Each clip will be of maximum 5 minutes and can be edited using free movie editors like Window Movie maker etc. along with a short description of the Audio Video Clip, Objectives, Observation, Inferences drawn etc. The model of the camera used and other specifications like date, time of recording, exposure, aperture setting etc. can also be submitted.
They can maintain a small diary or field notebook for the purpose and bring it along during the time of presentation. Each participant can submit a maximum of only three entries. The idea is for children to keenly observe the eco systems around them, find interesting information related to biodiversity of the area, their behavior, impact due to anthropogenic factors like pollution etc.
Last date for submission would be 5th of March 2017. These can be images (minimum 12×8 sq.inches printed out), Audio Video Clips in CDs or USB Pen drives or Memory cards etc.
Entries may be sent to Pondicherry Science Forum (address given at bottom) or handed over to the office. Alternately, entries can also be given to Dr.Alok Sharan, Department of Physics, Pondicherry University, Kalapet, Puducherry-605014.
3. Quiz Programme:
There will be also a screening of several short documentaries on the biodiversity of Puducherry or India. Based on this a Quiz competition will be held. Schools can register as teams of three students per batch. Last date for registration of School teams is 5th of March by sending email to cerdpsf@gmail.com with copy toaloksharan@gmail.com.
